Teen Crisis Intervention by Alice Cooper

alice cooper
Teen crisis intervention is not an activity that you would associate with Alice Cooper. An old rocker whose rebellion and drug addled hellion days are legendary, Alice Cooper has long since parted ways with substance abuse and has dedicated his energies and talents to building another teen crisis intervention resource that he hopes will communicate in a language common to all teens - music.

His latest effort in intervention is the creation of a $7.3 million center for troubled teens outside of Phoenix.

“The 29,000-square-foot Solid Rock Teen Center… will feature a coffee house; a recording, sound and game room; a computer lab and sports facilities. It also will include a dance area run by Cooper’s wife, Sheryl, owner of Destiny Dance International in Phoenix.”

The Center will address local of areas of concerns, from Phoenix’s high teen delinquency rates to budget cuts hurting available music programs in area schools.

“Phoenix’s social problems among youth are well documented. The city continually ranks low in student achievement and high in teen pregnancy and high school dropout rates.

Given the founder’s pedigree, the center will focus on music education and expression — disciplines often cut during school budget crunches.”
